British Columbia is the western province of Canada . The borders are in the west the Pacific Ocean and in the east with the Rocky Mountains on Alberta . The magnificence of this country is hard to describe. You have to see it and to live it by yourself.
When visitors talk about British Columbia , than they mention the endless green forests with countless lakes and wild rivers, majestically snow-covered mountains, rich of wildlife and a coast so spectacular, is impossible to describe; the splendor of coastline of British Columbia is unique in North America . There are several inlets north of Vancouver similar to the Norwegian fjords , framed with ice-capped mountain peaks. Some of the fjords are ending by waterfalls or glaciers. Further the Sunshine Coast , disrupt with uncountable coves and bays. A paradise for divers, anglers or lazybones who like to relax on the beach.
The coast offered an excellent and interesting area with lot of possibilities for sailors. Along the wild, majestic shore it offers a far-reaching sailing area in protected water of the Strait of Georgia , with the Gulf Islands in the southern part. In the northern part you will find the Desolation Sound with uncountable islands and inlets, the singular beauty Inside Passage as far as to the open waters of the Pacific on the west coast of Vancouver Island and Queen Charlotte Island.
At the coast of British Columbia you can only mention one part of the size of this country. There are over 30 beautiful Marine Parks along the coast, plenty of kind of birds and wild living animals in virgin nature reserves. Just here on the coast you can watch the big popular killer whales. This is also the home of the gray whales.
Page 1 | Page 2Because of the mild climate, the season of sailing is the whole year. From mid April until mid October are the best months and is the peak season.
If you wish to live the best of two worlds: sailing in protected waters of the coast, fishing for salmon, catching crabs and shrimps (licence has to be bought), walking on the beach or relaxing on deck and watching some eagles flying in the sky, after one or two weeks sailing cruise subsequently still take a two weeks round trip with a motor home over Vancouver, Kamloops to Banff, Jasper through the unique national parks, the Okanagan Valley back to your starting point. That will be the true vacation for you. When you were once here and have live with this beautiful nature, you will come back again.
For European customer an important note:
The flight time from Frankfurt ( Germany ) to Vancouver with Lufthansa or Air Canada as none-stop flight are 9,5 hours. The connection flight Vancouver to Nanaimo is only 25 minutes. By best view you will get your first impression about the landscape.
Through the time-shift on 9 hours, we recommend to stay in a Hotel/Motel in Nanaimo or Vancouver (depend on arrival time) for the first night to get off the jet leg. You should book your flight to Nanaimo (YCD).
We will pick you up by arrival at the airport in Nanaimo and bring you to your Hotel/Motel. On the next day, after you have had a good night sleep and a good relaxed breakfast, we will pick you up and bring you to the port of departure.
On your vacation travel you will becoming overwhelmed, if to sea or to land, from the expanse of the country side and the nature. As well as from the kindness and helpfulness of the Canadians.
